Shou Sugi Ban is a Japanese technique, that dates back to the 18th century, for preserving wood. The wooden bench is burned, which makes it resistant to sunlight, water, and fire. Another benefit is how beautiful of a process it is. It can bring out and highlight the woodgrain in a way that other finishes cannot. Metal industrial grade legs adds a modern touch.
 
This bench is hand crafted from reclaimed wood, sourced locally in Houston, TX.
